What is digital mileage correction?

Digital Mileage correction or mileage adjustment

becomes necessary when the mileage on the electronic

display differs from  the value which you believe to be

correct. This is where a correction service can help

you in returning the displayed value back to its original value.

Why do I need this service?

There are many reasons why you might mileage

correction:

 Many dashboards develop electronic faults

that cause the mileage to jump or change to an invalid

reading. Motors and gauges also fail in this instance you

might purchase either a new or second hand instrument

cluster as this is  often more cost effective.  New dashboards

 have 0 miles on it. If it's a second hand one it could well have

100,000 miles on it or some other value from the donor car.

Naturally you want it to show the correct mileage and that's

where we can help, by electronically placing the correct

mileage information onto the dashboard.  

Recent events include typo errors at the dealer where they enter

e.g. 24,500 instead of 2,450 miles. If you face this problem

where a new cluster has been fitted by a dealer insist on the

correct value being put on the car or ask us to do this for you

and we will provide you with a receipt for you to give to them to reimburse you for the cost.

We also offer a KMH to MPH conversion service for imported cars or cars to be exported  , this changes the displayed value from KMH to MPH or vice versa.

Is it legal?

If you need to change the mileage for any of the reasons

above this is perfectly legal. It is however, illegal if you

knowingly sell the vehicle without informing the buyer

of the true mileage.

Speedofixer is only providing a correction service for reasons similar to those stated above. If there is nothing wrong with your cluster i.e. it has not developed a fault or does not have an issue similar to one of those mentioned above then please dont contact us.

You must inform a buyer of the new mileage if you believe

 it to be incorrect.

We have Mercedes dealer level diagnostics MB Star for

service light resetting and error code resetting. Also have Porsche diagnostic software for service light and error code resetting, VW/Audi diagnostic equipment and BMW diagnostics.

For most cars we can connect to the car's diagnostic port

which interfaces with our programming machine. Where

possible we do not have to remove the dashboard.

Speedofixer  use the latest hand held equipment

specifically designed for this purpose, this provides a

much more stable platform for performing this operation.

It is known that there is a greater risks of a chip developing

a fault where people are using laptops to reprogram mileages.

Speedofixer offers instrument clusters repairs e.g. pixel repairs and fitting of MPH calibrated dials  to main dealers and trade forecourts to save costs - a "good second hand unit is worth fitting if it can be coded correctly".

How much does the mileage adjustment service cost ?

The cost varies from model to model depending on the degree of difficulty, age of vehicle and cost of equipment. We do however offer extremely competitive rates .Prices from £70 upwards. Please email us with your vehicle model, make, and year for a quote.

Please note we are not the cheapest and don't wish to be. Our price is also based on quality of service and workmanship - would you let any builder work on your house ? Probably not. We realise that some people need to learn the hard way  - a penny clever and  £ foolish, so if you are one of these people please don't bother contacting us  as we are busy and dont have patience for time wasters trying to get a £10 discount.
