* Caution this is the hardest part of the job extreme care needed*

Tools :

1. Speedo, rev counter,fuel, temp use Gripper/pliers -blue tool in pics to lock and secure the motor shaft

2. Economy needle removal tool or oil temp needle on M5 E39- this tool makes light work of remving the eco gauge.

1. One tool will remove four needles - the blue gripper tool or similar tool in our photos

2.  The special tool- economy needle tool  will remove the

    economy  gauge needle/(oil temp gauge in E39 M5). Buy it here

This sits on the

    needle after you remove the black round cap ( which you can prise off with a small flat screw driver by placing it under the rim of the black cap- place a business card under the needle first to protect the dial)   

First you must lift off  the black cap off  the top of the eco needle

using a  small screwdriver flicking it on both sides to make it unclip 

> then place the tool over the needle and rotating the tool head.

As you turn the tool head the pin will lower through the needle 

pushing down on the motor shaft -thus releasing the needle
